Soccer has always been a major part of Fleetwood history. The expectations year after year are always extremely high; fans expect the most out of their team. But no one expects more than the players themselves.
“[The goal is to] win counties and districts,” said senior Ryan Hollenbach, varsity captain for the team.
Hollenbach said “communication, hard work, and strength” are key methods to being successful and achieving high expectations throughout this season.
Fleetwood’s biggest rivalry this year is with the Muhlenberg Muhls. During the previous year, when Fleetwood lost at Muhlenberg 2-1 after half time due to inclement weather, Fleetwood’s intensity level rose higher than any other game this season.
“The whole starting lineup,” said Hollenbach, “are key players in every game.”
The real key to Fleetwood’s success is the love of all the fans. Their fans, also known as “Superfans,” are arguably the strongest group of fans in the county. They have been noticed in both the Channel 69 News and The Reading Eagle.
“I Drink a lot of water and eat honey before games because it soothes the vocal chords. Depending on the weather, I will dress appropriately, typically in my official’s uniform,” said Senior Superfan Dan Milloy.
“Other than the typical fanhood jeering, post-goal celebrations are the best parts of the game,” Milloy said.
The Fleetwood team looks to promising this year, and the whole county expects great things from the players.
