Mantra, as defined by the English Dictionary, is a sound considered capable of creating transformation. Kieran Lisney and Christopher Riggs are firm believers that their music is also their “Mantra.”

Mantra is a  two piece experimental conceptual group consisting of Chris Riggs (Track Editor & Mixer) and Kieran Lisney (Lead Vocals). Their music contains elements of dubstep, pop, chiptune, electro, as well as punk-electronic elements.

Based in Reading, they began in early 2010 after Chris formed a few dubstep tracks on his own. Wanting to add vocals to his tracks, he found Kieran to help assist him in what would eventually turn into their permanent band.

Since then, the group has been playing many different and unique venues and shows, including one at Complete In Box, a vintage video game store in Ephrata, in January.

Chris Riggs enjoys people’s reactions to their shows.

“We also love it when people get into it and dance or even headbang. Crowd participation is awesome!” Riggs said.

The group has a particularly unique style in that there is no other group in the area, or in popular music for that matter, that does what they do. They are currently in the process of recording and releasing a seven song album, and they hope to have positive feedback on their newest tracks.

“The remixes usually get dropped upon completion on the Facebook page, unless we set some sort of date,” Riggs said.

Mantra has both a Facebook and a website; to find them, visit www. Thisisourmantra.com.
