For hopeless romantics and girls who envision the perfect relationship, The Vow is a love story that will pull at the heartstrings.
The Vow, starring Channing Tatum (Dear John, She’s the Man) and Rachel McAdams (The Notebook, The Time Traveler’s Wife) play Leo and Paige, a young couple happily married and living in downtown Chicago.
One night after going out to dinner while at a red light, the two become victims of a car accident. When Paige wakes up, she has suffered a brain injury and does not remember Leo. It is up to Leo to recreate their love story.
Paige’s parents, played by Jessica Lange and Sam Neill, do an excellent job of making you hate them but make you feel sorry for them at the same time.
Leo spends most of the movie trying to recreate the romance he and Paige had before the accident occurred, but there are many touching moments in between.
There is also Paige’s struggle within herself to remember anything she can about Leo. One memorable scene in the movie consists of Paige sitting on top of a table in the couple’s apartment laying out photos of her life.
She labels them her “early life,” her “life up to law school,” and the “dark era” as she calls it. This is the period of her life when she left home for the city, where she met Leo and fell in love with him.
The end of the movie is the one part lacking. Although some would consider the ending to be a happy ending, it leaves many unanswered questions. More details needed to be added onto the ending and the characters themselves.
If you like to cry or just want something to watch with that special someone, The Vow is a perfect movie for you.
