As the summer approaches, people seem to want more excitement all the time but are uncertain how to obtain that excitement. If you are interested in history, this might be the right guide for you.
Our first stop is Gettysburg, where battles in the Civil War occurred as well as the famous Gettysburg Address. There are many things to do here, including tour the Battlefield itself, where there are over 1,400 monuments. The Soldier’s National Cemetery was the first monument built to recognize the soldiers who fought in the war. Eventually, even Confederate memorabilia was allowed recognition on the battlefield.
Another historical building that recently opened is the David Willis House, where many famous Gettysburg events happened, including the clean-up after the battle. This house tells the tale of David Willis, and it was also where President Abraham Lincoln finished writing the Gettysburg Address.
If you make it to Gettysburg for a special day, the Rupp House is the traditional place where significant events are held. If you want to attend and get more historical information, you can even join the house.
Of course, there are many historical landmarks all over and a lot on this coast, but it is great to know that there are so many historical locales here in PA. Visiting them is a great way to get to know the state’s history.
