For those not aware, Mr. Walter recently arrived at Fleetwood as a new English teacher. Before coming here, he was a student teacher at Penn-Kidder middle school in Jim Thorpe, at Bethesda Alternative School for Disruptive Youth in East Stroudsburg, and at Pleasant Valley high school, where he also substituted.

Mr. Walter decided to go into teaching after sixteen years of working in big business.

“I reached a point in my life where I wanted to give back to society, and I could not think of a better way to do that than teaching”, Walter explains. “I really enjoy interacting with the students, and seeing their young minds develop as they realize that they can achieve anything as long as they believe.”

In addition to having a goal to inspire the young men and women he has in class, Mr. Walter has also found his own inspiration. His father was the main role model in his life, one who motivated him more than anyone.

Mr. Walter has been married for eleven years and has three kids, aged twenty-one, eighteen, and ten. He also has three dogs and five cats.

“Needless to say, our house is bustling with life”, says Walter.

He is always up for the opportunity to learn new things, and his many hobbies include: traveling to new places; visiting historic sites; and target sports such as archery, rifle shooting, pistol shooting, black powder shooting, blowguns, darts, and tomahawks.

“There’s just something about getting focused and locked in place. You get inside the bubble, and just for that moment, the world disappears…and then explodes,” says Walter.

Senior Nick Weitzel states, “Eh, Mr. Walter is a pretty cool guy. He isn’t afraid of anything!”
