On February 3rd, three Fleetwood Tigers signed National Letters of Intent for their future colleges. Liz Bergman, Sarah Bergman, and Jeff Mikitka all committed to playing sports at the collegiate level next year.

Liz Bergman will be attending Lehigh University, which is located in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, to play women’s soccer.  Lehigh University is a small, four-year, private university that is most known for its Engineering program. Liz will be majoring in Political Science so that one day she may become a lawyer.

“I chose Lehigh because of their great academic program, and also so that I could play the sport that I love,” said Liz.

Lehigh’s women’s soccer team won the Patriot League’s Championship last year but was unfortunately knocked out by the University of Virginia in the first round of NCAA playoffs.

Sarah Bergman will be attending Sacred Heart University located in Fairfield, Connecticut, to play field hockey. Sacred Heart University is a large, suburban, four-year, private university and is the second largest Catholic university in New England.

“I really like the atmosphere of the campus and the location,” said Sarah.

Sarah will be majoring in Exercise Science. Sacred Heart is a member of the Northeast Conference and competes against schools such as Siena College and Robert Morris.

Jeff Mikitka will be attending Shippensburg University located in Shippensburg, Pennsylvania, to be a part of the swimming team. He signed his National Letter of Intent on the early signing date in November.

Shippensburg University is a Pennsylvania state college that is located 40 miles southwest of Harrisburg. The university is specifically known for its College of Business. Their swim team competes at the D2 level and had a 5th place finish at their last invitational meet. Jeff is interested in majoring in Business at Shippensburg.
