Every year, FBLA sponsors an annual food drive to benefit less fortunate individuals over the holiday season. The food drive takes place for approximately 1-2 weeks in late October to early November. The drive allows many people in this struggling economy to have a good meal this holiday season. Students can donate numerous items, such as canned fruits and vegetables, cocoa, cookies, napkins, and a lot more.

“I hope the food drive goes really well,” business teacher Kelly Ackerman, the head of the food drive here at Fleetwood, said.

The class who brings in the most goods will receive an ice cream party for their first period class, since that is where students were supposed to submit goods.

“We are obtaining many food donations for our food boxes. We are going to take our boxes to friend Inc. on Friday when we take other students on a trip there,” Krissi Scattamachia , a junior and secretary of FBLA who heads the food drive, said.

Friend Inc. is an organization that organizes food drives all around Berks County and often times throughout other parts of Pennsylvania.

Many students find this to be a great way to give back to the community as well.

“It’s a great way to give back to the community through FBLA,” FBLA member Stephen Hilborn said.
