On 14 February 2012, the Fleetwood freshman class visited and spent the day at various colleges across Berks County. They were able to see different aspects of the colleges they visited and learn more about them.
The colleges visited were Albright, Alvernia, Penn State Berks, Kutztown, and Reading Area Community College.
The trip lasted a full day, starting with the buses leaving for the colleges in the morning and ending with the students returning in the afternoon.
The students were grouped according to their last names, and each group went to a different university. The trip consisted of different tours of the facilities, dorms, and lunch in the cafeterias. They also learned about the different courses offered by the schools.
“My favorite part of the day was the lunch and when we toured around the campus.” said Ethan Reider.
“I liked hearing about what the college kids do,” Jordan Randazzo, who spent the day at Albright, said.
Most students also agreed the day was a good experienced. Ethan Reider said that the day helped his decision-making process even though he doesn’t plan on going to the college he visited.
“I just don’t think it was a good fit for me,” Michael Norton said about Albright University. Both students did say the day was still helpful in their decision-making process.
Overall, the college visitation day was a success. It gave the Freshman class a chance to see different colleges across the county firsthand and learn about what it is like to live on campus, along with a chance to learn about different programs offered there as well.
This experience should help them with the big decisions about their futures.
