Love rollercoasters? How about an upside down one?
This could be possible in the future because one of Fleetwood’s own students has made a model out of Kinex for a Research and Design Project in his Drafting class.
Chris Georgia, an FAHS junior, earned the privilege for the completion after 9 levels of drafting and plans to use these skills to become a chemical engineer.
The required skills to build this coaster are knowledge of physics and some architecture. The requirements for the assignment are to suspend the coaster from the ceiling. It will need to run 70% upright (although the passengers would not be upside-down), and technology education teacher Sara Shelton will need to be able to walk underneath it.
Shelton has had many other creative students, including Chris’s older brother, Tom, who graduated in 2011.
Because this is a year-long class, Georgia has to finish it by the end of the year, which will include researching, testing, and building the rollercoaster and track.
