The FAHS Interact Club is Rotary International’s service organization for young people ages twelve to eighteen. The ultimate goal of Interact is to promote community service.

The Interact Club at FAHS is sponsored by the Fleetwood Rotary Club, which provides some support and guidance for the students, but the club itself is self-governing and self-supporting. Every club is encouraged to complete at least two community service projects each year. One project should benefit the local school or community, and the other should further international understanding and good will.

“We do the annual Interact Volleyball Tournament in the spring to benefit Shelter Box, we volunteer at the Rotary Car Show, and we are currently working on a change challenge in the elementary school to benefit an animal shelter,” Interact president Paige Bohn said.

Rotary International and the Rotary Foundation said that Interact Club is meant to help young people learn the importance of developing leadership skills and personal integrity, demonstrating helpfulness and respect for others, and understanding the value of individual responsibility and hard work.

“I wanted to get involved with Interact because it’s a service organization that helps the community, and I thought it would be a good way to get to know kids at Fleetwood better,” club advisor Molly Sherman said.

“I wanted to be a part of a club that works to benefit others. Interact gives all our profit to good causes,” club member Margariete Malenda said.

The Interact Club at Fleetwood has completed many successful service projects over the years and will continue to advance their international understanding and good will.
