St. Paul’s UCC School hosted an arts and craft show to raise money for cancer research. All of the proceeds were donated to Alex’s Lemonade Stand.
Students from the school tagged along and helped out at the event. The students who volunteered ranged from three to five years old.
“The students were proud to do it,” principal Peggy Nahrgang said to the Reading Eagle.
These students helped out at the stands. They mainly helped serve lemonade from Alex’s Lemonade Stand. Nahrgang said the students had a lot of fun.
The lemonade stand alone raised over three hundred dollars. Along with drinking lemonade, people who went could create or buy mother’s day gifts.
Kids could also go into the jump house, and parents or kids could buy various types of art. Roughly twenty-five vendors participated in the event by selling art or creating arts and crafts.
According to The Reading Eagle, these included “vendors from jewelry, stained glass, dolls, arts and crafts, bow and arrows, tupperware, food, powerflex bracelets, concrete fabrication, angel sculptures, and a variety of community vendors.”
Along with students, parents and teachers helped out with this event. The volunteers served hundreds of people scattered throughout the day.
“It was just neat to see so many people out,” Nahrgang said to the Reading Eagle. “It was a good day.”
