The Fleetwood student council is hosting a Mini-THON to help raise money to fight against pediatric cancer. All the money they raise is going to The Four Diamonds Fund. From there, it goes to pediatric cancer research and also to families with children being treated for it. The families being helped by Four Diamonds do not see a single medical bill. Here is their website if you would like to donate, or if you just want to get a closer look at what the workers are doing (http://www.fourdiamonds.org/).

This event is going to be on 15 May 2015 in the Fleetwood Area High School cafeteria and both gyms. To get in, it is a $25 admission. It will be held from 2:30 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Everyone can be a part of this event. If you are interested in coming to the Mini-THON, bring your $25 to lunch in order to register yourself. If you cannot make the Mini-THON, you can also help by going to the website and donating!

Sarah Rothenberger, along with other student council members helped bring the idea to Fleetwood. Many schools do them, and these students wanted to also bring this wonderful event to Fleetwood. Events taking place at the Mini-THON include Just Dance battles, volleyball, lip syncing, dodge ball, and video games. Other events will be added as well.

Cancer is the #1 cause of death by disease for children in the United States.

“The Four Diamonds’ mission is to conquer childhood cancer by assisting children treated at Penn State Hershey Children’s Hospital and their families through superior care, comprehensive support, and innovative research,” according to the website.

Since 1972, Four Diamonds gives direct support to about 600 children who are diagnosed with cancer and to 100 who are newly diagnosed and 500 who are continuing to fight.

“I am very excited. The whole experience is going to be amazing and very fun. I think it is going to be awesome to see the school come together to make such a difference in other people’s lives and for the kids,” Sarah Rothenberger said.
