The Fleetwood boys’ basketball team is midway through its season. They’ve had some rough patches and some games that were great wins. They look to start getting in stride and making a push for playoffs.
This season so far, the boys’ team is 5-8 overall, but it is still looking for a league win, as they are 0-3. The three league teams they have lost to so far are Conrad Weiser, Twin Valley, and Hamburg.
Conrad Weiser and Twin Valley are two teams that are having good seasons and a lot of success. Weiser is 8-6, and Twin Valley is 7-7.
Hamburg is another story. They were in last place in the league until the boys team lost to them. It wasn’t the best game played by the boys, and they fell 50-39 to the Hawks. Hamburg is 3-11 this year and 1-3 in the league.
The Tigers won the Christmas tournament that was hosted by Fleetwood. They beat Brandywine in the first round and then went on to beat Pequea Valley in the Championship game. Marckens Griffon was the tournament MVP, and Tyler Chavoya and Ryan Miller made first team in the tournament.
In the Twin Valley game, Fleetwood was down big in the first half but really stepped it up in the second half. They brought it to a close game and ended up losing 62-54.
The Fleetwood J.V. basketball team is playing very well right now. They have won three of their last four, beating Oley, Twin Valley, and Hamburg. They lost to Exeter, but it was a tough battle.
J.V. started out rough, but after working really hard and starting to play smarter and more together, they’ve made many improvements and started playing better.
Their motto this year is “Don’t sleep on the Js.” They’re surprising a lot of people with their play lately, especially beating a very talented Tri Valley team.
They look to keep the streak hot and continue to win games. Both varsity and JV play Berks Catholic next, and they look to pull off a big upset and surprise the Berks Catholic team.
