Irie Miller enters her junior year at Fleetwood Area High School this year. She has lived in Fleetwood her whole life and has one brother, named Ben, and two dogs, named Mia and Rocky. Her favorite subject in school is English due to its less objective style, as opposed to classes such as math or science. Miller has always enjoyed reading and writing, so English comes easy to her, and she enjoys taking part in the high school book club. In the future, she plans to pursue a degree in literature and has known since she was little that she wanted to become an author. Joining journalism this year, Miller hopes to gain more experience with writing. Outside of reading and writing, Miller enjoys participating in the music programs offered by the high school. This year, Miller joined the orchestra, in addition to returning to marching band and chorus, to pursue playing the bass. She plans to continue pursuing music as a hobby into college and beyond. Apart from school, she likes to play video games and watch movies, as opposed to TV shows. Throughout Miller’s life, she has learned to live in the moment instead of worrying so much about what the future holds. This has allowed her to feel less stress and enjoy every moment she gets to live. Last school year, Miller had the opportunity to perform in and explore Disneyworld and Universal Studios, in Orlando, Florida, with the high school music department. She will never forget the memories she made with her friends on this once-in-a-lifetime trip. Miller sees herself as dedicated and hard-working, yet easygoing. She always puts forth her best effort in everything she does and tries, but makes sure not to be too hard on herself.
