Sunscreen Proves Just as Valuable in Wintertime

Sunscreen, a common applicant during the summer season, is being recommended during the winter season as well.

Failing to use sunscreen during the winter could lead to ultraviolet rays breaking down your skin, just as it would during the summertime. It may even be worse during the winter.

Because Fleetwood is in the northern hemisphere, it is closer to the sun during the winter. This means that residents receive more ultraviolet light during that time.

Additionally, snow and ice can worsen the impact of ultraviolet rays. Up to 90% of UV rays are reflected by snow and ice, and that tends to increase the intensity of the UV rays.

If someone doesn’t wear sunscreen during the winter, these UV rays can have a negative impact on a person’s skin.

UV rays are known to break down skin cells. They can damage cells to the point where the risk of skin cancer is increased.

Additionally, UV rays tend to make people look older because skin cells are damaged. This means someone could develop wrinkles and discoloration very rapidly.

Although you may not feel the effects of failing to wear sunscreen during the winter, your skin is absolutely being damaged nonetheless.
