Sophia Nestler, otherwise known as Sophie or Sammy Nestler, is a fifteen-year-old sophomore born on July 21, 2010. She first lived in Phoenix, Arizona, moving to Pennsylvania later in life. Nestler lives with multiple pets, including two cats named Link and Kittymoney Cash, several schools of fish, a cockatiel named Quasimodo, and a guinea pig named Trixie Mattel. Hobbies she enjoys include playing the banjo, journaling, needlework and cross-stitching, writing, and volunteering as a Wikipedia site editor, spending at least one hour per day on the site contributing. Additionally, she enjoys reading, currently Cloud Atlas written by David Mitchell; she believes it’s a merely acceptable book, in her words. For her apparel, she enjoys purchasing her clothing via thrifting and charity shops as she inspires to dress more vintage, using “old lady clothes” as an example. She enjoys layering her clothing as well.

Within Fleetwood Area High School, she’s involved in two clubs: Model UN as the secretary and Film Club as the vice president. Her favorite memory at Fleetwood Area High School is winning the ugly sweater contest in 9th grade, expressing how she was overcome with emotions. When asked, “How would you say people describe you?” she responded with determined, sensitive, opinionated, a bad sense of humor, and off-color. She explains how winter is her favorite season because she likes how dead everything looks and hates the sunlight, enjoying the overacast weather like snow and rain. Experimental rock music is her favorite genre, including songs from artists such as Xiu Xiu, Boyd Rice, and The Fibonaccis. She also enjoys music in the style of spoken words, describing it as very cynical.

In the future, she would like to become a film director attending NYU Film School. A backup option would be to attend UCLA, but she isn’t quite fond of the state of California. Nestler states that she is very passionate about films. When asked, “What is your favorite film?” she responded with Breakfast on Pluto, directed by Neil Jordan in 2005. Overall, Nestler is a dedicated and sociable person, incorporating several forms of humour into her personal life such as her pet names. She values films that she can form a personal connection to and enjoys textual media, writing in several forms as hobbies such as journaling, poetry, and Wikipedia.
