OKC Thunder Show off Huge Overtime Win Against Utah Jazz

NBA team OKC Thunder defeated the Utah Jazz, using strong defensive mechanisms and amazing, consistent scoring to win on January 7, 2026.

The matchup between the OKC Thunder and the Utah Jazz had good back and forth on the scoreboard, OKC getting the win and leading the conference 31-7.

The Oklahoma City team was looking to avoid a three-game losing streak to maintain their lead in the western conference standings.

“I’m really proud of our team. That was a high level game on the road at the end of a long trip. I told the team that they’re competing at their highest level,” Utah Jazz head coach Will Hardy said.

Top performers of the game were Shai Gilgeous-Alexander of OKC Thunder, who led the scoring with 46 points, 6 rebounds, and 6 assists, along with his teammate Chet Holmgren with 23 points and 12 rebounds. For the Utah Jazz, Lauri Markkanen scored 29 points and with 13 rebounds, while Keyonte Gerorge had 25 points and 11 assists. 

The Thunder had a big first half lead over the Jazz that was 20 points ahead at the start of the second quarter. Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s buzzer beater won the game, getting the ball with three seconds left and driving to hit a 13-foot jump shot, tying the game.
