The Latin Club consists of students in FAHS Latin classes. Madeline Pearson, the Latin teacher here at Fleetwood, is the advisor for the club.

There are approximately 20 members in the club at present. Due to the district’s diminishing budget, the club must fundraise for an event called “Convention.” “Convention” is held annually at Penn State in State College, PA, and the Latin Club (or classes) attends the event to have fun and learn about the Roman culture.

On Friday, March 25th, the Latin club is holding a dance in celebration of The Ides of March. The Ides of March is the day that Julius Caesar was murdered by the Roman senators. The club will be celebrating the death of Julius Caesar by presenting a dance in honor of Caesar’s death to the school. Refreshments are provided.

Attendees must dress school appropriately at this dance. If you dress up as a Roman, you will still need to dress school-appropriately. The cost is $7 if you are not in a toga when you show up. For students in a toga, the cost is $5.  All participants will automatically be entered into a contest to win a prize. This prize is a car.

Austin Plucker said, “That would be pretty cool to win.”

“It would cool as long it is not a Matchbox car,” commented Zachary Mourar.

“It sounds too good to be true,” remarked Julie Sipos.

The Ides of March Dance will start at 7:00 p.m. and end at 10:00 p.m. Since the club does not know to which type of music people would like to dance, they would appreciate song suggestions given to Miss Pearson via her mailbox.

Or, post your suggestions right here on TheTigerTimes.com.
