Toyota, the most popular brand of Japanese car, recently recalled many of their vehicles. It is estimated that Toyota will be recalling 1.7 million vehicles with many more expected in the near future.
Fans of the automobile manufacturer express their love for Toyota by bragging about the reliability and reputation this brand has acquired. Between 2000 and 2008, approximately 140,000 of the Avensis model and 1.2 million RAV4, Noah, and Voxy models were recalled. There was also a second recall including 280,000 Lexus and 75,000 Mark X and Crown vehicles.
The main problem with the vehicles was that sometimes gas would leak out of the car. Another problem was that the gas pedal would stick in place, causing the car to accelerate uncontrollably. There wasn’t anything that the driver could do except run into an object bigger than the car.
In 2010 alone, Toyota made 18 different recalls. However, the president of the company, Akio Toyota, has pledged to be more responsive and more willing to listen to his customers. Although all of the recalls have hurt their reputation as an automaker, Toyota is still one of the leading car manufactures in the world.
