Fleetwood’s FBLA, which stands for Future Business Leaders of America, is a club in numerous schools around the country. It is especially important for students interested in a business career. This program has become very popular for students because of how exciting the program can be.
As a member of the club, students raise money, attend meetings, and participate in conferences. At the conferences, a lot of different competitions occur, and students choose which ones they wish to partake in. Students in FBLA also have the opportunity to go on a lot fun field trips. For example, on June 8th, members have the opportunity to attend a Phillies game along with other club members. It also looks great to have this club on transcripts, resumes, and college applications.
“Every year members compete in a competition that gives them the chance to advance to states in Hershey and nationals in Texas,” says club president Kiley Petro.
The main purpose of FBLA is to promote an environment in which business-oriented students can improve those talents which will better their future careers. This organization was established to help students gain leadership skills in a fun and exciting environment. The club also helps students develop leadership abilities and prepare for entry and advancement within a business.
“You can meet new people, earn scholarships, travel to cool places, and have lots of fun,” said member Makayla Noll.
“You will learn business skills such as networking and etiquette, which is quite important in life,” says student Courtney Worrell.
Fleetwood’s own FBLA club is full of opportunities for those who want to advance into the field of business. The whole FBLA environment is very welcoming, and new members are wanted. This club is for students at this school who are interested in a future in business. Although this club is great for business students, it is also a good club for any student who likes helping charities.
One of the biggest objectives of the FBLA at Fleetwood is to fundraise and assist charities. The biggest charity that Fleetwood’s FBLA assists is Friends Inc. Friends Inc. benefits the needy and is a great charity to help. Another charity that the FBLA assists is Habitat for Humanity, which builds houses for the less fortunate.
There are no requirements for students to join FBLA. If interested, head down to business teacher Kelly Ackerman’s classroom (Room #1) and pick up an FBLA membership form. Fill out the form, pay your $20 dues, and assist with a worthwhile cause.
