In the recent weeks, Fleetwoodians have been questioning if the terrible rumors surrounding the camel at M&M Mechanical were true.
Zach Williams, a sophomore at Fleetwood Area High School, informed The Tiger Times staff via Facebook that the “Fleetwood Camel” was dead.
“Personally, I think it would be an absolute tragedy if the camel died,” said class of 2013 graduate chad Dymeck.
While no one seems to know how long the camel has resided in Fleetwood, many are familiar with where the camel can be seen.
While it’s relevance here is somewhat questionable, the citizens of Fleetwood are undoubtedly concerned about the camel’s current state.
Fortunately for concerned Fleetwood citizens, Jenny Mott of M and M Mechanical offered The Tiger Times her knowledge of the camel.
“Buddy is not sick or dead–he’s just older but still doing well,” said Mott.
Mott believes Buddy (the camel) is between 14 to 16 years old, which would give him roughly 25 more years to live.
While most of the community would feel remorseful if the camel were to pass, Sam Cabrera, a junior at FAHS, fails to recognize the significance of the camel.
“I wouldn’t really care if the camel died. I don’t even know it’s name, and why would you buy a camel as a pet in Fleetwood in the first place?”
Cabrera’s feelings toward the camel appear to be one in a million as he was the only person among thirty others at FAHS to say he didn’t care for the camel.
Buddy the camel has undoubtedly become an important part of the community. It seems that those who heard the rumor about the camel’s death (which has now been debunked) became instantaneously filled with dismay.
