Only a few years ago, Dane Yuengel was sitting in the same seats as current FAHS students. Nowadays, he’s one of the newest members of the staff teaching social studies.

As a student at Fleetwood, Yuengel was in F.B.L.A. and his team was the first in Fleetwood’s history to go to nationals.

“I’m so glad to see some new clubs were created,” Yuengel said.

Yuengel noticed that there are a few modifications done to the school. For example, the Promethean boards were added along with the increased quantity of laptops available to students.

After high school, Yuengel attended Penn State University Berks for an Associate’s in Business and later went to Kutztown University for a Bachelor’s in Secondary Education. He specializes in social studies.

“We learn from our mistakes in everyday life, and often history is cyclical. What better way to appreciate all we have today than by seeing our struggles and accomplishments of the past,” Yuengel explained.

Yuengel knew he didn’t want to work in an office building swimming in papers; he would rather work with students because of the balance of creativity they have and the on-task discussions that make his career rewarding.

This is his first year as a teacher, but he was also a student teacher both for Exeter Junior High and Reading/Muhlenberg Career and Technology Center. It was important for him to return to Fleetwood because he is a “townie”

He and his wife’s family live in Berks County as well. He enjoys where he is living and is glad he can give back to the community in which he grew up.

When Yuengel is not teaching, he enjoys watching the Phillies and the Eagles, kayaking, boating, golfing, and spending time with his family and friends.

“Yuengel was a very hard worker, along with his siblings,” science teacher Mark Coassolo said.

“He is an all-around, really funny guy,” science teacher Todd Driesbach said.
