Real Madrid is highly regarded as one of the best teams ever. The club has incredible history and is looking to keep it going with their talented team.

Madrid signed Cristiano Ronaldo, who is currently the best player in the world, in 2009 for a world record bid at the time of 94 million pounds. In the past year of 2013, they also signed Gareth Bale for 100 million pounds, which broke the previous record set by Ronaldo.

“I think Real Madrid could be the best team in the world.  They’re having a really good season, and they could be Champions League contenders,” sophomore Greg Kambakis said.

The star-studded team is hopeful this season as they are leading the race to win La Liga, and their performances in the Champions League have been impressive. Cristiano Ronaldo is the leading scorer in La Liga and in the Champions League. Fellow superstar winger Gareth Bale is not having too bad of a season either.

“Real Madrid is having a really good year.  I think they’ll win La Liga and possibly the Champions League too,” senior Doug Karpuek said.

The team recently played title contender Atletico Madrid and drew the game 2-2, keeping them at the top of the table, 3 points above Atletico, and 1 point above Barcelona.

Superstar Cristiano Ronaldo recently came back from suspension; then he scored twice against Shalke and once against Atletico. Ronaldo is having another incredible season after winning the Ballon d’ or for 2013. Strike partner Gareth Bale is also beginning his Real Madrid career in a great fashion, with 14 goals and 11 assists in all competitions. He is leading Real Madrid in assists in La Liga with 10.

“They’re doing really well this year. They have a good chance at a bunch of trophies,” junior Mitch Kinek said.

All Madristas have high hopes for this season, and so do all of the players.
