Kings and Rangers Face Off in Final

The NHL season is coming to a close, and that means the finals are starting up. It is the most exciting series in the entire season, and it happens to be the Los Angeles Kings and the New York Rangers this year.

They are two teams that most likely were not chosen by most to make it this far, two teams that exceeded expectations and pushed for the opportunity to win a championship.

“I think it will be a great series. I can’t wait,” junior Frankie Talarico said.

The New York Rangers did not have an easy road to the final series, defeating the Philadelphia Flyers, Pittsburgh Penguins, and Montreal Canadiennes. Although New York had it difficult, it was not a walk in the park for Los Angeles either, defeating the Chicago Blackhawks, Anaheim Ducks, and the San Jose Sharks.

“It should be an exciting series.  Both teams fought through some tough teams to get here,” freshman Nick Krasley said.

The Kings advanced after a thrilling game seven against the Chicago Blackhawks that went to overtime. New York beat the Canadians in game six, one to nothing. All of these close games are leading up to what should be a series to remember.

Los Angeles could get used to this success; this is their second time being in the finals in three years. In 2012, they won the crown after defeating the New Jersey Devils.

“The Kings have been really good lately.  It’d be crazy to see them win again,” junior Logan Silvius said.

It surely is creating a decent amount of hype from fans all across the country, as it should. All eyes will be on the two teams when the puck drops on June 4, at 8:00 pm.
