The weather this winter has been very odd. One day it is 60 degrees and sunny; then the next day it is 30 degrees and snowing. The weather the second half of the season has been brutal. It ranged from 15 degrees to the wind chill being -15.
“If it is going to be this cold, it might as well snow. I believe the cold makes us appreciate the warmer weather just a little more,” former student Clay Weidemoyer said.
This cold weather has caused many problems with cars not starting and things freezing. The cold weather also brings cranky people and high electric bills. The weather has not been this odd in years. It has been pretty consistent the past few years.
“I hate the cold weather. It makes me want to move somewhere warm like Florida or Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. The really cold weather gives me a reason to stay inside and play Xbox all day,” junior Nick Daniels said.
Last year, this winter was predicted to be the worst winter we will have in a while. Though the temperature has been pretty cold in the region, here the snow hasn’t really been falling. On the plus side, if we do not get enough snow to have a day off, Fleetwood will have a pretty long spring break.
“I am very glad it has not snowed a lot. I hate driving in the snow, and I hate the winter in general. If it snows a lot this winter, I’m going to go mad because I cannot drive in the snow, and, if it snows, I can’t make it to chick-fa-la, and that will make me very mad,” senior Lizzay Faust said.
There are several things you should do to prepare for the cold weather. You should always wear a coat, dress warm when you have to go outside, avoid leaving your pets outside for too long, and wear a hat or gloves if you get cold easily.
“I like the winter because it is basketball season, and I love playing basketball. It’s the second thing I look forward to during the school year. Soccer season would be the first,” senior Mitch Kinek said.
