Senior Tyler Emge has finally committed to a college. Emge will be attending Shippensburg University in the fall to play Football for the Red Raiders.

“I’m very happy for Tyler, he’s one of the hardest workers I know on and off the field, especially in the classroom,” Senior Mike Osenabach said.

Tyler’s letter-signing for Shippensburg was held on Wednesday, 4 February, at 4:00 p.m. in the High School board room.

Last season, Emge led the Tigers to a second place finish in the Eastern Conference finals. The Tigers fell to Blue Mountain 37-34 in the championship game.

“The game against Blue Mountain was a tough game, but there’s nothing we can do about it now besides say a bunch of what-ifs,” senior Thaddeus Cornick said.

Emge ran for 2000 yards last season, which placed 3rd all-time in Berks County for single-season rushing. Tyler averaged 7.8 yards per carry. In Emge’s four years here at Fleetwood, he had a combined total of 4,423 yards from the line of scrimmage. He has a career average of 5.7 yards per carry throughout his four seasons.

“Tyler always ran the ball hard.  He improved every year I went to watch him. Every time he touched the ball, you expected him to either have a big play or get a first down,” Osenbach said.

Emge will be playing linebacker at Shippensburg in the fall. He is unsure if he will be playing his freshman year or if he will be “redshirting,” which means he won’t be able to dress but can practice and travel with the team.

“I’m extremely excited to start the next chapter of my football career, my education, and my life at Shippensburg University!” Emge said.
