There have been many attempted child abductions in and around Berks County recently. They have all been reported as different men, but there are descriptions of what they look like.
Some victims even helped create sketches of them. Police also have descriptions of their vehicles.
In Exeter Township, there was a report of an attempted child luring of a seven-year-old girl. This happened around 4:00 p.m. on Orchard View Road.
The abductor was reported to be a white man in his mid-20’s driving in a white pickup truck.
The man apparently said, “Come here little girl,” and she ran to her home. The man then followed her and knocked on her door.
There was another attempted child luring in Wyomissing a few weeks before that. This was a different abductor, a tall Hispanic man in his 20s or 30s.
An eleven-year-old child was grabbed by this man around 8:20 a.m. on her way to the bus stop in the 800 block of North Park Road. The child managed to escape from the man and run away.
The police released a sketch of the man and are trying to find the vehicle of interest. The vehicle of interest is described as a silver/blue Toyota Corolla with an exhaust problem.
Police are also investigating a child luring in Cumru Township. This occurred around 9:00 a.m. in the area of Grandview Drive and Pennwyn Place.
A white man in his 60s or so offered a child a ride to school. The man was wearing reading glasses, a black fedora, a black coat with buttons; he also had a white beard. His vehicle is a white, mid-sized Sedan.
With all of the recent attempted child-lurings, we encourage all to be careful.
“It’s a scary thing that we have to look out for,” sophomore Shelby Ralston said.
