On 19 February, four Fleetwood students and student council members went to the state capitol in Harrisburg for a PASC Youth Summit.
Those four students who attended were junior Max Vogel, sophomore Samantha Evans, freshman Joey Moyer, and freshman Chris Logar.
At 9:00 a.m., the House of Representatives were welcomed by PASC President Michaela Lynch and Executive Director Rose Ann Fulena.
By 9:30 a.m., there was an introduction of SBE members, and presentations were given. Around 9:45 a.m., students went to their group sessions, which they were assigned at registration.
Around lunchtime, everyone in student council was given the opportunity to have a brief visit with the office of their State Representative or Senator.
Around 1:00 p.m., the group sessions continued, and then the four students continued to the House Chamber for presentations and closing remarks.
Some of the topics the student council members discussed were School Climate, One-to-One Technology, Safety in School Sports, and Promoting the Value of College and Career Reading.
The student council students recorded all ideas on a laptop. They each prepared a presentation on their discussions that included research and a plan to get more students involved.
Each group was given twenty minutes to present and defend their opinions on their topic as if they were presenting it to their school board.
