Dec- ShannonShannon Tissera is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Tissera. She moved to Fleetwood during the summer before sixth grade. Prior to this, she went to St. Rita’s Primary School, Elms Elementary School, and The British School in Colombo (Sri Lanka).

Here at Fleetwood, she is the Class of 2016’s Historian and is involved with Student Council.  She is also a member of National Honor Society and the tennis team.

Outside of school, Tissera volunteers at local hospitals. In her free time, she enjoys hanging out with friends, watching movies, blogging, writing, baking, and cooking.

Her favorite subject in school is English because she loves expressing herself through the medium of words in writing. She says she is not good at art, but she enjoys appreciating art, playing tennis, baking, traveling, reading, and writing.

She believes that she was chosen for Student of the Month because of the positive energy she has toward herself and everyone around her.

In ten years, Tissera sees herself being happy with wherever she is in life. After High School, she plans to attend college and pursue a degree in psychology. She will miss her friends and teachers, the lack of excessive responsibility, and all of the “Bill Nye” and “Eyewitness” videos.

Tissera’s inspiration is one of her close friends, who instilled in her the importance of self-expression, love, and worth, and who inspired her to be the best possible version of herself.

Tanner Kurtz is the son of Edward Kurtz and Renee Kline. Tanner went to Perry Elementary School in Hamburg School District, then moved to Fleetwood in second grade.Tanner - December

At Fleetwood, he is involved in National Honor Society, Chess Club, and Outdoor Club. Outside of school, Kurtz volunteers for national parks and is involved with the National Rifle Association. He enjoys hunting, fishing, working on cars, riding four-wheelers, doing outdoor work, and spending time with family and friends.

Kurtz believes that it is the teachers who are what make a class great. This year, he does not have just one favorite subject because all of his classes are great once he gets back from Berks Career and Technology Center (BCTC).

Kurtz is constantly himself around everyone. He is considerate, honest, courteous, humble, and, most importantly to him, respectful, and that’s why he believes he was chosen for Student of the Month.

In ten years, he sees himself as a well-off electrical engineer working for a great company.  He also hopes to have a wife and his own place to call home. After High School, Kurtz plans to work as an electrician over the summer, then go to Penn State for Electrical Engineering in Fall of 2016. Once graduating from Penn State, he plans to acquire a job in engineering. He will miss the great people he has met, as well as the challenges and triumphs he has been through during his education.

His inspiration for the things he does is his family. They have heavily supported him and have pushed him to do well in life.
