From the class of 2016, ten new members have joined the National Honor Society at Fleetwood Area High School, which brings the total number of seniors involved to thirty-five.

The requirements to join consist of having a GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale (or 85%), demonstrating volunteer or service hours, and possessing an excellent record both inside and outside of school. You also need to participate in leading roles in your community, as well as many other things. Once you’ve joined, you’re required to perform service projects that benefit your school, attend chapter meetings, and complete other requirements from your local chapter and school.

Some famous people who were part of National Honor Society are entertainer Taylor Swift, the First Lady Michelle Obama, baseball legend Cal Ripken, Jr., and actress Tina Fey. Being part of National Honor Society is an honor as well as something to put on your resumé.  It is also useful when it comes to college, as many will hand out scholarships to their seniors.
