Family and Consumer Sciences teacher Mrs. Nancy Castiglioni is running an Animal Rescue League charity drive in the high school. This donation drive is a great cause in which students can be involved. Students are encouraged to bring in canned food, toys to donate, or cash.
The Rescue League is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping animals who have been mistreated and come under very harsh circumstances.
Castiglioni wanted to start the animal drive because animals are very important to her and they come under hard times.
“These animals really need our help because they, in most cases, can’t help themselves, and they really have come under hard times,” Castiglioni said.
Wanting to help the cause, she initially did a similar drive during her time at the elementary school but ended up getting away from it, and, due to her passion for helping animals, she decided to bring it back here at the high school.
“I just think that there’s a lot of things done for different organizations, and animals are really important to me, so I wanted to do this for them,” Castiglioni said.
The donations students bring in are picked up by a contact from the Animal Rescue League. Although donations are steadily coming in, there is always a need for more, so students should really try contributing to this great cause throughout this holiday season.
