Every month, two students of the senior class are selected by high school staff as Students of the Month. For the month of October, two well-deserving students have been selected. These students are Dameon Rattie and Alexa Hromiak. Both students receive a special parking spot for the month as well as a gift card to a place of their choice.

Both seniors are very involved in their academic and extracurricular activities.

Dameon Lee Rattie of Blandon is the son of Mr. Matthew Rattie. Rattie attends Berks Career and Technical Center (BCTC) in the machinist shop. He is the recipient of the BCTC perfect attendance award and also attends cooperative learning with East Penn Manufacturing. Immediately after high school, Rattie plans to enter the workforce as a machinist. In his free time, he enjoys solving puzzles such as the Rubik’s Cube as well as playing video games and going outside.

“I feel like I deserve student of the month, but I also think that there are better candidates for it,” Rattie said, demonstrating the humility it takes to be student-of-the-month.

Alexa Leigh Hromiak, the female recipient of Student of the Month for October, is the daughter of Mr. Nicholas and Mrs. Wendy Hromiak. Hromiak is involved in many ways throughout the community, including Student Council, Soccer, Tennis, National Honor Society (NHS), Interact Club, Science Olympiad, and Rho Kappa. She also volunteers with her local food bank in her free time. Hromiak looks up to her mother, Wendy, most of all. She says her mother has always worked hard and never ceased to be a great mother.

“I am very honored to be selected,” Hromiak said. “I appreciate the teachers that nominated me.”
