Every month, the Fleetwood Area High School faculty has a meeting to choose two hard-working students, one male and one female, to be the students-of-the-month. The September students of the month were Andrew Menet and Emma Templin.

The two were chosen for their hard work and dedication in school. In order to become a student of the month, the staff must recommend a student at the meeting for showing exemplary behavior and attitudes or for outstanding academic performance.

Along with the title of student of the month, both recipients receive the opportunity to use the two painted parking spots in the parking lot for the entirety of the month.

“I have not yet used the parking spot because I don’t drive. I considered parking a giant inflatable duck in the spot, but, instead, I decided to allow one of my friends to use it since I can’t,” Menet said.

“I felt honored to be selected as the first student of the month for the year,” Menet said.  “I hope to be a great role model for the other students throughout the school.”

In the future, Andrew plans to attend the United States Naval Academy and study nuclear engineering and serve on a U.S submarine.

With numerous goals in her sights, Templin plans to attend BCTC after high school to obtain her teacher’s license in cosmetology and also plans on attending barber school.

Throughout her school career, Emma has been very involved in numerous school activities. She is an active volunteer in the community and can be seen helping at a number of events outside of school.

“I value club involvement very much and keep them all as a top priority,” Templin said.

Both students have been very involved in the school and the community, earning them their titles of students-of-the-month.
