Hacking is a criminal activity that has skyrocketed in the last 25 years with the proliferation of all forms of technology. According to Medium.com, the stereotype of the “Hacker” in these films would be “creepy young men in hoodies and living in their mom’s basement.” This may be true in some cases, however, it is a false stereotype in the case of all hackers.
Hacking has evolved over the years, and even in the past few weeks, when Shawn Ryan Released an episode of the “Shawn Ryan Show” with ethical Hacker Ryan Montgomery.
But a hacker is often considered to be a criminal.
Dr. Roberto Di Pietro, a full professor of cybersecurity, told Cyberdefensemagaizine.com in a post from 2020 that “a hacker is simply someone who enjoys the intellectual challenge of using computers, networking or other skills to overcome a technical problem.”
“For businesses and individuals that want to guarantee the security of their computer networks and systems, ethical hacking can be a useful tool. Ethical hackers can aid in the prevention of data breaches and other security problems by finding vulnerabilities before they can be exploited by criminal hackers,” Guneet Kaur said.
According to DeVry University, it is not hard for one to become an ethical hacker, as long as they have experience and skills in knowledge of scripting languages, proficiency in operating systems, a deep understanding of networking, and a solid foundation in the principles of information security.
Ethical hacking is becoming more and more relevant as society dives deeper into technology.
