Students at Fleetwood Area High School have been accepted into the Senior County Chorus and PMEA District 10 Chorus.

Several Fleetwood Area High School students who are involved in the chorus are participating in the annual Senior County Chorus and PMEA District 10 Chorus festivals. They have been chosen via audition to perform alongside students across the county.

The following students have been accepted into Sr. County Chorus: Rileigh Agnew, Josh Felker, Izzy Funari, Angelyna Guiguema, Sam Heebner, Aurora Kishbaugh, Katie Mileshosky, Timothy Shuman, Sarah Snyder, and Riley Spannuth. Meanwhile, the following students were accepted into the District Chorus: Rileigh Agnew, Angelyna Guiguema, Eric Katzenmoyer, Aurora Kishbaugh, Katie Mileshosky, Timothy Shuman, and Riley Spannuth.

Senior County Chorus consists of students from grades ten to twelve who are selected by audition.

“The concert takes place in January each year, and the students have the opportunity to perform challenging music while networking with students in other school districts,” Catherine Williamson, who is the choral teacher at Fleetwood High School, said.

The county festival will take place at Conrad Weiser High School.

PMEA District 10 Chorus is also an ensemble group consisting of students from grades seven to twelve with an even more challenging audition process. It’s made up of seven counties, including Berks.

“Students in grades 7-12 are eligible to audition, but typically it is the older students who have a better chance of making it,” Williamson said.

The District festival will be held at Jim Thorpe Area High School.

“County Chorus will have approximately 8 hours of rehearsal time together to prepare for their concert, and District Chorus will have approximately 12-16 hours of rehearsal. Each group will be under the musical direction of a guest conductor (typically a director of vocal/choral studies at a college or university),” Williamson said.
