The Fleetwood Area School board shut down the idea of spring break for the ’24-’25 school year.
All plans for giving students a spring break after the current school year are looking to be canceled.
Spring break is a time when students are looking forward to making trips, seeing family, and traveling.
“In a time where inflation is high and our country is in danger, it’s imperative to keep the kids in school,” Fleetwood School board member Michelle Brown said.
Michelle Brown has made it clear that, if the district passes this, she will be prepared for any backlash from parents or teachers that comes with it.
Brown refers to spring break as a promotion of fascist ideals that promote laziness and bigotry of staff and employees.
“I want my kids to be hard-working members of society, and I don’t see them learning any hard work from a week off of school,” Brown says.
Jacob Gledwalker reported that his mom is outraged by this information.
“I cannot reschedule this family trip I’ve been planning for the past 2 years,” Mrs. Gledwalker said.
“I honestly don’t care about what the school board or district says, I will not be attending school,” Jackob Gledwalker said.
DeShawn Lopez of the school board declined to offer any further information on the decision.
It’s to be expected that, from next year on, Fleetwood Area School district will not be participating in spring break, but students and local residents eagerly await confirmation of this decision.
