Fleetwood Area High School hosted its junior and senior prom on May 3, 2024 at Stokesay Castle.
The event had a “Be our Guest” theme, based on the Disney movie, Beauty and the Beast. Students had the opportunity to dress up and spend the night with close friends.
“I decided to go to prom because it was my senior year, and I thought that it would be a memorable night to have,” FAHS senior Angelyna Guiguema said.
Prom can seem more like a burden than a fun event due to the preparation and costs, but the event itself was worth it to those who attended.
“I think the preparations for prom are just a part of the prom experience,” Guiguema said.
FAHS junior Kayla Page said, “I would most definitely recommend going to prom because, if you go with the right people, you will make some lifetime memories.”
At prom, students can enjoy food included with their ticket, as well as a DJ.
“My favorite moment from prom was probably towards the end. The DJ was going crazy and playing hit after hit after hit, and it was just continuous dancing and vibes. [it was] very fun,” Guiguema said.
The tradition of prom also encompasses the prom court. Each student in attendance has the chance to vote for his or her grade’s prom court. Towards the end of the night, everyone gets to watch as the current year’s junior and senior prom king and queen are announced.
“My favorite moment from prom was the crowning of prom court since I had friends on the court,” Page said.
The 2024 senior prom king and queen were Riley Spannuth and Angelyna Guiguema.
