Close to the waters of the Atlantic Ocean in Tampa, Florida, SharkCon will take place once again, welcoming in paying public to all of the activities provided.
The annual convention will run from July 11th to July 12th, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. There will be celebrity appearances from the Jaws franchise as well as numerous vendors selling ocean and shark themed merchandise. Activities and exhibits will be open during the convention, as provided by numerous partners sponsoring the event, including the Clearwater Marine Aquarium, Marine Life Rescue project, etc.
Guest appearances from marine biologists, wildlife experts, etc., were a mainstay of the 2025 convention. Marine ecologist and professor in the Department of Biological Sciences at Florida International University Dr. Mike Heithaus attended the convention.
“It really does put sharks in the spotlight, and that’s going to raise money for conservation, and that’s going to help research to make sure we are going to protect these really important animals,” Heithaus said.
Heithaus specializes in predator-prey interactions and the ecological importance of sharks.
Various celebrity appearances from the Jaws franchise have made their way to give talks at the convention in previous SharkCons: John Putch, John Dukakis, and many more among them.
Not only is this a fun outing for the family, but it also raises money and spreads awareness of shark and ocean conservation.
Tiger Times has interviewed biology and marine science teacher Mark Coassolo.
FAHS biology teacher Mark Coassolo has never heard of SharkCon, but he would like to visit if it were close by. He is knowledgeable on the anatomy of sharks, especially how in Biology II, dogfish are dissected.
