On February 15th, 2026, the FAHS Dart Club performed spectacularly in the PA State Dart Tournament held in Tresckow, Pennsylvania.

The FAHS Dart Club is focused on honing dart skills and casual fun. It’s led by club president Connor Schlegel and English teacher Mark Walter. Club sessions happen every Friday in Mr. Walter’s room, room 106, from 2:30pm to 3:00pm.

“Dart club is supported by the ABDA (American Baseball Dart Association). It’s an organization with state and national tournaments. They have donated over $2000 worth of gear to the club, and on several occasions the top players in the country come in to coach the students,” Walter said.

In the tournament, student Ryan Schaffer placed 3rd and won a cash prize.  Club president Connor Schlegel won 4th place as well as an award for scoring a perfect inning.

“We play American darts, so the most points scored in a single inning is 9, which is 3 triples, and I got 3 triples, which is why I got the perfect inning award,” Schlegel said.

“It creates mindfulness because when the darts are in the air, the rest of the world disappears. All you are thinking about is where it’s going to land on the board,” Walter said.

“Getting to shoot in a tournament by myself put a lot of pressure on me. It is a very mental sport, so having a lot of pressure was something I wasn’t used to,” Schlegel said.

This was the first tournament that the club has attended, which means that it was a learning experience for the group.

“They have had their first official scores entered in a data base,” Walter said. “Everyone had fun. It was a good learning experience because everyone was in a tournament.”

“I was excited, also a little nervous, because it was my first time competing in an environment like that, but by the time I got there, it was a really good experience,” Schlegel said.
