Tigers Football Continues to Break New Ground

Fleetwood was never really known for football, but in past years, a lot has changed. They went from one of the worst teams in the county to a feared opponent in the majority of their games. The high-powered offense doesn’t give opponents’ defense much rest.

Fleetwood has one of the most exciting offenses in the county. Leading the charge are captains Tyler Emge (Running Back), Zach Koenig (Quarterback), and Michael Allen (Wide Receiver). Each of them are one of, if not the, best at their positions in the county. The talented trio leads Fleetwood’s offense in putting up a good amount of points most games.

“I think we’re having a decent season.  We’ve been playing well in most games, and we hope to keep up the good work in the playoffs,” senior Captain Tyler Emge said.

The team ended the season last year 6-4, making the playoffs, which is the best in school history. Fleetwood lost in the first round to Coughlin on a last minute play at the goal line. A heartbreaking loss for the Tigers, sure, but it was also a lesson learned.

“I think we’re having another good season following last season’s playoff berth,” senior kicker Matt Hook said.  “We have a good group of kids, and I think we have a lot of talent.”

The Tigers ended the regular season with a record of 6-5, which puts them back into the playoffs for the second year in a row. The Tigers hope to break another record by winning their first playoff game in the near future.

“I think they’re having a great season.  They’ve been playing really hard, and I hope they keep playing well,” senior water girl Kae Huang said.

All the boys, especially seniors, definitely don’t want this season to end, so, as long as they keep winning, it won’t end as soon as recent years.
