On 27 May 2015, Fleetwood Area High School held its annual Athletic Awards Banquet. Students from Fleetwood were represented and honored for their excellent play in sports.
Each coach went up and talked about the season and their teams MVPs and coach’s award winners.
The banquet lasted a total of two hours to go through each sport and to honor students.
The Senior Plaque is an award given to a senior who played a sport during his or her senior year of high school. Sixty-one seniors were awarded with that award this year.
The next prestigious award was given to seniors who maintained a 90.0 GPA average over their high school careers while lettering in two varsity sports for two or more years.
The students awarded this award were Isaac Cook, Christian Custodio-Melendez, Elizabeth Del Rio, Tyler Emge, Mathew Hook, Hannah Kohl, Emily Nowotarski, Jared Reaser, Haley Schappell, and Casey Steward.
Following this award was a slide show made by media teacher Sean Gaston with the help of two students, Gary Gabriel and Jared Adam. It was a year in reflection, showing pictures from each sport.
The last award of the night and the most prestigious award given was the Outstanding Male and Female Senior Athlete Award. It is a clock on a plaque and is awarded to the students who qualified for this award. The students who won this award this year were Cyre Virgo, Matt Hook, and Tyler Emge.
“I was so happy to win this award,” senior Matt Hook said after winning the award. “It’s almost surreal.”
The Fleetwood sports season was a success after many district and county champions as well as many district and state qualifiers.
