FBLA’s (Future Business Leaders of America) new beginning sparks the annual FBLA recruitment drive. Fleetwoood’s FBLA goal for the recruitment drive was to acquire at least 72 members for the beginning of the new school year. This goal was surpassed with the recruitment of 91 current FBLA members.
FBLA is a nationally recognized club around the United States with a single purpose, which is to educate and prepare students to become greater employees and citizens in society. FBLA gives participants the opportunity to take part in a diverse quantity of community services.
Multiple FBLA members gave comments about the opportunities that FBLA provides.
“FBLA offers fundamental knowledge in leadership and basic business knowledge, while also providing the capacity to get involved in the community, spark new friendships and engage in activities of merriment,” sophomore Jake McGarry said.
“FBLA also has really fun trips that you learn more about business and that you really enjoy when you are on them,” sophomore Laura Kaskey said.
“It provides good networking oppurtunities,” sophomore Julia Donahoe said.
Besides the fun activities, FBLA is also a place for serious work to be done; each member has to select an event in which to compete for regional, state, and national recognition. Each contestant must put in a large amount of time and effort and show a great amount of dedication in order to win these events.
In addition to business teacher Kelly Ackerman’s multitude of business classes, FBLA is an opportunity to gain influential knowledge in the ethics of business and to have a good time.
