Italy Offers Numerous Wonders for Travel

Going to new places and experiencing new things is always a good way to get in touch with the world. There are so many adventures outside of Fleetwood; one of these is Italy. Italy was founded in 1861.

One of the main cities in Italy that people tour is Rome. In the city of Rome, there are so many exciting places to see. A popular place is Vatican City. In this little city, there are many beautiful attractions to see, like St. Peter’s Basilica, The Sistine Chapel, Vatican Museums, and more.

St. Peter’s Basilica is a gorgeous monument that took 120 years to complete. This church has magnificent artwork created by famous artists, including Michelangelo and Gian Lorenzo Bernini. St. Peter was buried under the Basilica along with others.

Another beautiful part of the Vatican City is the Sistine Chapel. Baccio Pontelli and Giovannino de Dolci built this beautiful creation in 1473, but it was later painted by Michelangelo. The Sistine chapel was created not just for its beauty but also for religious purposes, like selecting a new Pope.

When going to Rome, you definitely want to check out the Colosseum. This great building was originally a theater. It was known as the Flavian Amphitheatre. In the sixth century, you would be able to see fighting, animal hunting, and even executions at the Colosseum.

  The Trevi Fountain is Rome’s largest Baroque Fountain. This exquisite fountain was built to mark the ending destination of the Aqua Virgo to bring fresh water to the city to bathe in. Many tourists come to visit and look at the beautiful sculpting by Nicola Salvi. There is actually a legend about this fountain.
