Relay for Life is a non-profit organization that hosts a variety of fundraisers to raise money towards the fight against cancer. Fleetwood Area High School will be hosting one of these events on 23 October 2018 from 5:00-7:30 p.m.

Safe Trick-or-Treat is an event that has been running for about seven years now, and it is hosted by Fleetwood’s Relay-for-Life team. It is strongly encouraged that people go to the event because, not only does it raise money for cancer, but it will also give children an extra chance to Trick-or-Treat.

Safe Trick-or-Treat will be on the first floor of Fleetwood Area High School, and children of all ages are invited to attend. Students who want to help set up the event will be able to right after school. It is encouraged that people bring any younger siblings, nieces, nephews, and/or grandchildren to attend the event because there will be plenty of new activities this year.

“There will be face painting, pumpkin painting, cookie decorating, story time in the library, and games in the cafeteria,” said supervisor and science teacher Mr. Matthew Biniek.

There will also be T-shirts sold at the entrance.

The price for a child to Safe Trick or Treat is $5.00. Last year, the event raised about $564 with only ninety-two Trick-or-Treaters. The Relay-for-Life team is hoping for an even bigger turn out this year in hopes that the word will spread and that students, faculty, and staff attend the fundraiser.

“Thirty-one members are currently signed up for Relay, and anyone who is interested is more than welcome to join,” Biniek said.

If anyone has any questions or concerns about Relay-for-Life, he or she may see him in Room 213.

Meetings are held every Wednesday in Biniek’s room to plan for upcoming events and mini fundraisers. Safe Trick-or-Treat is Fleetwood’s biggest Relay-for-Life fundraiser, and volunteers hope to see you there.
