“I have fourteen girls from three different school districts in the troop, and many of the girls said that this has been one of the first places they feel accepted and have made friends,” Fleetwood business teacher Rebecca Heiser said.
There are so many positive opportunities that come from joining the scouts, ranging from leadership skills, communication skills, and the second family on whom can rely.
There is a local scout troop that is open to girls in the Fleetwood Area, run by Heiser. This group is very welcoming to new members and encourages people to get involved with the troop.
Mondays from 7:15 p.m. to 8:15 p.m. is when girls can count on these meetings being held. For more information about meeting destinations, interested participants can email Rebecca Heiser at rheiser@fleetwoodasd.org.
There are many academic opportunities that come from Girl Scouts. The Eagle Scout Award, for example, is the highest award a scout can receive. This looks amazing on any college application or any application at all.
This award shows that a person understands what it takes to be a leader in her community and what it takes to be a part of change. This is a highly prestigious award, and it is recommended that participants join early, as earning this award takes time.
Activities include weekend camping trips, archery, hikes, a corn maze, a car wash, miniature golf, roller skating, and much more.
If any of these activities or opportunities pique your interest, Scouts BSA Troop 171 for Girls would love to hear from you and have you be a part of this amazing experience.
