The Fleetwood Area High School April Students of the Month have been announced. Students William Ryan and Thomas Schappell received this award for the month of April.

Both Ryan and Schappell have dedicated themselves to their school and to their community.

Ryan is actively involved in the Youth Football Camp, Legion Hall Breakfasts, and helping with youth baseball at Smith Field. Schappell has dedicated himself to his community by being involved with the Boy Scouts of America.

Both students say their parents have been involved in their academic achievements.

“My parents were very proud of me and happy that the school recognized me with this award. They were very proud to see all of my hard work and dedication finally paying off,” Ryan said.

Schappell says one person he admires is his mother Narcie Schappell because she motivates him to do better and tolerates his mistakes when he makes them.

Ryan says one person he admires is his father because he has a good work ethic and always puts others before himself.

Both Ryan and Schappell are involved in many clubs within their school. Ryan is involved in three sports, and clubs, including National Honor Society, Model UN, and Rho Kappa. Schappell is involved in track and field, along with National Honor Society, Science Olympiad, and Academic Challenge.

“It felt really good to win this award because I feel that I’ve always worked hard and tried my best in school. It’s getting towards the end of the year, and it can be hard to find motivation, but I am pushing through, and it feels good to know that my hard work is being recognized,” Ryan said.

Both students seem to be ideal choices for April Students of the Month.
