Friday, May 5, 2023 was the night of nights for Fleetwood Area High School juniors and seniors. From the beautiful venue of Stokesay Castle to the tasteful Italian food that was served, to the dance floor that got everyone moving, prom exceeded expectations.
Compared to last year’s drowsy weather filled with rain, this year had the perfect ambiance. The sun was shining, and there were smiles on students’ faces.
After the food section of the night was over, the dance floor was the main attraction. Being able to spend the night with friends was one of the best parts of prom.
“I loved to be able to dance with my friends while being all dressed up. Prom is a different kind of school dance. It doesn’t compare to homecoming or the winter dance,” junior Madelyn Bare said.
At the beginning of prom, juniors were given the choice to vote for prom prince and princess while seniors voted for prom king and queen. The results were Dominic Barrell-Kobryn and Isabella Funari as prom prince and princess and Andrew Haas and Kaitlyn Pytleski as prom king and queen.
A lot goes into being worthy of receiving the crown and tiara. Knowing your classmates have your back and think you deserve it helps a ton.
“I was really happy that Izzy and Dom won. They’re both so friendly and funny. I know they’re best friends, so it was cool to see them win together,” junior Maris Arnold said.
Prom brought laughter and memories that will last a lifetime. It was a great way to head toward the end of the school year.
“Prom made me realize, while being in the crowd surrounded by all my friends and all the people I’ve known for my whole school life, that we will be leaving soon but never forget each other. It was something special,” senior Kaitlyn Pytleski said.
