Tiger Football Training Tough This Spring

Fleetwood football players are getting pretty hyped as football season is just around the corner. The Tigers started their Spring football training on Tuesday, 28 May.

Spring football is extremely important to any program that wants to be successful; it’s where players start to learn the coach’s system and what role they’ll be playing on the team. In the first week, the program has gone over who will be playing which positions as well as a few plays. The Tigers find spring ball to be extremely helpful.

“I think it gives us a chance to all come together as a family and start playing again,” Jacob Good, a rising junior at Oley, said.

Most players don’t get to prepare many plays in the offseason, so having this period of time to learn them and be thrown into them is crucial for the team this year.

“I’m excited to be back out on the field and having a blast,” rising sophomore Sam Lerch said.

Spring ball is a time for everyone to come together again, learn plays, and just have a blast.  Also, it gives the coaching staff an early preview of what is to come this season. They get to see who they have committed to the team, some of their athletic ability, and the tempo for what our season will be.

With the tempo and intensity stepped up this year, the team is on its way to cultivating a successful program.

“I think we’re going to do a lot better this year in general, and we should win more games this season,” rising junior quarterback Zach Koenig said.

Fleetwood’s program certainly seems to be taking steps in the right direction.
