Fleetwood 2013 homecoming included a variety of events that gave Fleetwood students the chance to show their school spirit.

The homecoming dance was Friday night after the powder puff game and the parade. Fleetwood’s football homecoming game was played against Schuylkill Valley on September 28th. The home team won 31-7.

This made for an exciting weekend for Fleetwood students.

“We should have a more formal homecoming,” sophomore Ciara Delong said.

Throughout the week, there were multiple chances to participate in the spirit competition between the classes. Seniors came in first place for spirit wear.

Freshman decorated their hallway with the theme of Funky Freshman. The sophomore’s hallway was decorated as the Shipwrecked Sophomores. Juniors went with a superhero theme as Juniors for Justice, and the seniors took first place with their Seniors in Space theme.

“Friday is my favorite day [of homecoming] because of the activities!” sophomore Jake Feick said.

The homecoming court consisted of Cody Wolf, Morgan Shigo, Killian Grider, Matt Bogacki, and Clay Weidemoyer in running for king, and Elaina Hawkins, Lexi Hornbuckle, Jenn Mikitka, Morgan Noll, and Lauren Schlegel for queen.

Saturday night during halftime, Maureen McGarry and Sam Cabrera passed on the title of King and Queen to Morgan Noll and Killian Grider.

“Fleetwood presents homecoming better than some schools, I think. For example, Fleetwood has important political people in the parade,” computer teacher Mrs. Boyer said.

During the school day on Friday, Fleetwood held its annual pep-rally in the gym. Events included the wing-eating , tug of war, balloon pop, musical chairs, and frozen t-shirt contests. It was a fun-filled day for the students and staff at Fleetwood Area High School.
