A lot has changed since the 60s and 70s. Should there be some trends or traditions brought back?
“I noticed some trends are coming back from that time, like high-waisted shorts and winged eyeliner,” high school student Adrianna Colon said.
A lot of classic trends are coming back now from various time periods, high-waisted shorts being one of them. For girls, the bold red lips and winged eyeliner definitely make a statement when going out. Back then, the dress wear was very different. People have noticed that there is some not-so-appropriate dress wear that is developing in this generation. Should girls go for the classy look?
Sixties’ hairstyles are even coming back. The pin curls, finger waves, bandanas, and front bumps. Has this generation run out of new styles?
It’s not just trends; it’s technology too. Cell phones are advancing and are constantly being updated.
“I don’t think I could go a day without my phone because I’m always checking it,” student Hailey Carr said.
Some people may think that cell phones make people less social, but what about back then when everyone read the newspaper? Instead of always being on the phone, people would always be reading the newspaper. Cell phones and other technology aren’t just used for communicating; it may help many students with their homework. Back then, there wasn’t that kind of technology.
“I actually think I would be able to go a day without my phone, but it does help me with my school work,” sophomore Zach Warren said.
Besides technology and trends, what about traditions? What happened to going out after school to the carnival or going out on a nice date and dressing up?
A lot has changed since back then, and maybe more trends will continue to make its way into this generation and subsequent ones.
